12.12.12: Safeguarding Malaysia’s Future – Disaster Preparedness and Cultural Heritage

SHARE

At the heart of the 12.12.12 charity initiative lies a shared vision of building a safer and culturally enriched Malaysia. With a focus on disaster preparedness and the preservation of artistic heritage, the project aims to unite individuals, organizations, and government bodies in a collective effort to create positive change.

Disaster Preparedness: A Lifeline for Vulnerable Communities

One of the primary objectives of 12.12.12 is to enhance disaster preparedness in Malaysia. The country’s susceptibility to monsoon rains and floods necessitates timely and efficient response and rescue operations. By acquiring 100 sets of Flood Rescue Boats equipped with engines and life jackets, the initiative aims to provide a lifeline to communities affected by natural disasters. These boats will enable swift and effective rescue efforts, ultimately saving lives and minimizing the impact of calamities.

Preserving Cultural Heritage: A Tribute to Malaysia's Icons

In addition to disaster preparedness, 12.12.12 is committed to celebrating Malaysia’s vibrant cultural heritage. The initiative plans to showcase and promote the nation’s icons through a 2024 calendar featuring self-portraits created by talented artists. The calendar will pay homage to 13 iconic figures who have made significant contributions to Malaysia’s identity and global recognition.

The list of proposed national icons includes Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh, the internationally acclaimed award-winning actor; Datuk Lee Chong Wei, the renowned badminton star; Dato’Sri Siti Nurhaliza, Malaysia’s singing sensation diva; Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham, the altruistic medical officer; Dato Pandelela Rinong, the accomplished Olympian; Dato Ambiga Sreenevasan, the human rights advocate; Datuk Nicol Ann David, the record-breaking world number one in squash; and Datuk Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor, the first Malaysian astronaut, among others. Through these portraits, the initiative aims to highlight the nation’s diversity and rich cultural heritage.

Gratitude and Collaborations: A Strong Foundation for Success

The success of the 12.12.12 charity initiative wouldn’t be possible without the support and endorsement of the esteemed Royal Patron, Her Highness, Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Tuanku Dr Hajjah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, Raja Puan Muda Perlis. Her involvement adds a significant level of prestige and importance to the cause, inspiring others to contribute to the betterment of society.

The initiative is also grateful for the guidance and advice provided by YB R. Yuneswaran, the Member of Parliament of Segamat, Johor. His dedication to promoting community welfare aligns perfectly with the vision of 12.12.12.

Fundraising and Gala Dinner: Empowering Change

To realize the objectives of the 12.12.12 project, the initiative seeks support from corporate sponsors and generous individuals through the Fundraising Sponsorship program. Sponsors can contribute at different tiers, ranging from Premium RM200,000.00 to Silver RM20,000.00, with each tier receiving corresponding benefits such as prominent branding, media recognition, and exclusive invitations.

Additionally, a Charity Gala Dinner is scheduled for December 2023, offering an evening of elegant dining and entertainment. With approximately 80 to 100 tables available, attendees can choose from three different categories – RM10,000.00, RM8,000.00, and RM5,000.00 per table. The Gala Dinner not only promises a memorable experience but also provides an opportunity to contribute to this noble cause.
