Kim Jones’ Ode to the Contemporary Woman: FENDI’s SS24 Journey

FENDI SS24 Was a Somber Tribute to the Modern Woman

The FENDI woman is elegant, refined, and always on the go, seeing Kim Jones‘ modern vision for the House evolve with class since his appointment in 2020. Rumored to be his final collection for the Italian icon, FENDI’S Spring/Summer 2024 collection was grounded in sentimentality.

Jones’ womenswear collection was made for refined women on the go, seeing delicate pastel hues clash with vibrant oranges and yellows. Intimate violin notes filled the white-paneled room, bombarded with jumbo-sized sculptures of FENDI’S pocketed Baguette Bag. Dinah Wasington’s angelic vocals from the 1960s The Bitter Earth shattered through all human senses with tender nostalgia, with three brown looks kicking things off. A skin-tight dress with detached light blue boarding moved naturally, while mock neck versions donned sensual shoulder cutouts layered with smooth leather coats.

A Sentimental Symphony of Colors and Textures

Tethered sleeves grew from the neck on mid-length dresses, wrapping around the left arm with relaxed character. Graceful suiting with chest pleats followed color-blocked leather jackets in brown, red, blue, and cream hues while shimmering nightgowns walked in tribute to the British designer’s legacy. Blended snakeskin graphics enhanced suede outerwear and gradient eveningwear, complemented by tinted gloves pulled tightly on the skin. FENDI’s bold initial boomed on multi-colored sets with a modern identity, seeing simple white shirting boast two-sided openings to be worn in multiple ways.

Legacy and Innovation Collide: Kim Jones' FENDI Farewell?

Kim Jones’ SS24 FENDI collection felt like a full circle moment for the designer, packed with close friends and family present to experience the magic. Whether Jones stays or leaves the House, his presence will be felt across global corners, cementing himself in the House’s eternal heritage.
