Break the Silence : A Sensory Manifesto Against Sexual Harassment

SHARE

In a cultural moment defined by conversations around power, gender, and safety, “Break the Silence” arrives not as a campaign, but as a manifesto. From **August 22 to 24 at GMBB Kuala Lumpur**, this exhibition presents a deliberate reimagining of what it means to talk about sexual harassment — through space, through sensation, and above all, through empathy.

This is not trauma commodified. It’s trauma contextualised — reframed through experiential storytelling that invites reflection, not spectacle.

The Exhibition as Medium, Not Message

Gone are the cold statistics and sterile panels. In their place: a tactile, audio-visual journey through the unseen — where silence is sculpted, and voices long buried are finally given weight.

Each corner of the exhibition acts like a stage set, abstract yet intimate, prompting visitors to inhabit unfamiliar emotions and question what they think they know. The result? A space that resists the clinical and embraces the visceral.

Featuring Voices That Matter

Crucial to this narrative is the live dialogue series featuring Ms. Eve Lim, representing feminist advocacy group AWAM, and Dr. Keh Foo Bee, a clinical expert in trauma recovery. Their presence isn’t performative — it is critical.

These aren’t just “talks.” They are frameworks for cultural unlearning — and relearning — rooted in care and accountability.

A Cultural Intervention, Not Just an Event

“Break the Silence” doesn’t position itself within the white walls of high art nor the fluorescent glow of activism. Instead, it lives in-between — in that fertile space where design, community, and consciousness intersect.

It’s a powerful reminder: to advocate is not only to speak, but to create conditions where listening becomes possible.
